My First Climbing Day, Sunderland Climbing Wall

I've been climbing for the first time this weekend.

I went over to the indoor climbing wall in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear with a mate who's a regular there.

I didn't know what to expect and asked some pretty basic questions, like 'What happens when you get to the top?' and 'What if the belay guy is lighter than the cliimber? is there a see saw effect?'

Climbing the wall wasn't too much of a problem but letting go at the top and being lowered down was scarey tbh.

Price wise it was £11.50 which included admission and hire of a harness and climbing shoes, that's for all day if you can climb that long.

All in all I had a really good afternoon and recommend climbing to anyone, I was surprised by how energetic it was and out of breath I was when I got to the top. It's certainly an enjoyable was to exercise.

I worked on walls graded 4c and also some little problem walls graded 5a if that makes sense to anyone lol.

Looking forward to visiting Sunderlands indoor climbing again and if I'm bitten by the bug I'll have to splash out on some climbing shoes and a climbing harness too.

It was a dull day so I didn't go out to test it out but I stopped in and took a pic or two of Abby to see how the cameras aperture affected the depth of field.

New Digital Camera

After setting up and reading about DSLRs i've kinda decided i'd like to
buy a dslr and take up photography as a hobby.

I did a little photography work at college years ago and quite enjoyed it.

Obviously everything is digital now and the price of decent slrs has
came down significantly.

I think i'll treat myself to a Sony A200, which will last me a lifetime
and come in handy for taking pictures of Abby as she grows up.

I'm back to college in September, going to be a bit strange going back to study at 35 but if I want to work towards a career in design then i think this course is the one for me

Foundation Degree in Media Design (Publishing).

She's doing great, feeding well and sleeping loads which is good.

Virgin Media Broadband Pricing

Hi Guys

I've been paying Telewest/Virgin Media £29 per month for 2mb Broadband + phone line.

Yesterday I rang up and threatended to cancel my subscription if I didn't get the 2 for £20 deal offered to new customers only. I got the deal for £20 which gives me the same services.

Today I went to their website and there is the same deal for £15.50!!

Another phone call this morning got me the deal saving a whopping £162 over the next year for the exact same package.

If you're with Virgin Media it's definately worth visiting their website to see what prices their offering and ringing up if you're not on the cheaper price.

The girl in the post office said there's a huge backlog at the sorting offices but worse than that there's another bloody strike next mon/tues.
